Day 326 - House Jewelry and other Goodies

Installing cabinet hardware is like putting on the right piece or pieces of jewelry to complete an outfit.  Sorry guys, maybe it's like putting on the right tie or cap.  Anyway, the hardware just makes makes everything start to look finished.  Some of the shots below were not taken in the best light or angle, but they give they give a pretty good idea of how the hardware adds a finishing touch.

Mud Bench Hooks
We had a few days of really cold weather after the hardware was installed, so we put the hooks to good use!
Pretty and functional!!!!

After the master closet was installed, it became apparent we did not design the right lighting.  So, we added a hanging fixture and track lighting which has really improved the look and visibility of the room.  The hanging fixture arrived with one broken glass piece - not an unusual occurrence!!

Added lights in master closet

The painters still have a lot of work to finish, but they are making progress.

Stained front door

And, REALLY BIG NEWS, we have a working water system.  It is wonderful to see our collected rainwater flow out of the fixtures!!

Don't take water for granted!!!!

One of the last things installed in a new house is the carpeting.  So, despite all of the work left to be done, I guess we are really close to the finish line because the carpeting has been placed upstairs and on the staircase.

Installing the tack strips

Meanwhile, a crew from our builder was creating this very functional work area in the garage.  Bruce is excited to see a place to out his garage goodies.

And outside, the forms for the flatwork have been set up and the ground prepped for a concrete pour in a few days.

From pool area to garage entry

From pool to pool house/gym
And we have samples of concrete stain to consider in making our color selection.  The samples were put on concrete that will be covered by the gas grill.  We will stain the front porch, the back porch, and the pool area.

Selected second from left - Balkan Amber

So, as you can imagine, we are getting really excited to be so close to the end of the building phase of this project.  Thanks for hanging with me even though I have not been a consistent blogger!!!
