It is hard to believe only 40 days have passed since work started on the house. So much has been accomplished in that time. The picture below was taken when the building envelope was established.

Marking for corner of outside fireplace |
And here's a shot of the back view of the outside fireplace area today.
The really big excitement today was the delivery of two enormous beams to provide structural integrity. These engineered wood products are much stronger than a single piece of wood. In fact, it is probably not possible to get a single piece of wood that size.

Moving the beams to the structure |
After the beams were unloaded from the truck and brought closer the structure, it was quite an operation to put the beams into place. The framing crew carried these huge beams into the structure by hand!! Amazing!!!

After the beam was in place, the crew started connecting the kitchen ceiling joists to the beam.

The end of this exciting day brought friends and neighbors by to visit and to see the progress. The framing crew boss, Freddy, told us they will be working on Saturday. So, tune in for another installment this weekend.
