Day 82 - Reconstruction - Part 1

April 3 Location
The fix to correct the "pole of shame" wrong beam issue has begun.  The plumbers moved the bathtub, water lines, and drain to the upstairs tub to make room for the new supporting beam.

Cosmetically, this movement creates the "opportunity" to rethink the area around the tub since it has been slightly relocated.  We had planned to have a pretty tiled shelf on the "head" side of the tub.  The space there has been lost with the move.  A false wall will need to be built to house the plumbing on the "foot" wall of the tub.  So, we will put pretty niches in that wall to provide the same utility as the jettisoned shelf.

Construction requires patience and flexibility - traits that are sometimes hard to exhibit  :-)

Another point to learn in construction is the value of every inch of foundation "real estate."  It costs a lot of money to pour a slab and using the space efficiently is important.  There is a lot of "real estate" under stairs that can be very useful for storing stuff.....we all have stuff!!!!  To that end, here are a couple of shots showing the new door frames into our under stairs "real estate."

Not to be outdone by humans, our feathered friends are busying building their nest on our apartment patio.  Two little wrens have been very, very busy constructing a home for their future family.  This project is growing larger every day!!!
