Day 8/9 - A Misplaced Potty

We spent several more hours with designer Toi choosing interior design elements for the master suite and the upstairs bathroom.  We tweaked a few of our previous color selections as we inched toward a cohesive look for the house.  This process can be confusing at times, but it is more fun that I expected!!

We wanted the master bathroom to be a serene place, so once again we chose a neutral palette for the room.  And since the master bath flows into the master laundry without a door, we wanted to have a subtle, but definite transition accent.

Master Bathroom Selections

The counter tops will be a honey onyx. The floor will be covered in a field stone tile with small onyx inserts. The tub will be surrounded with the smaller pieces of onyx capped with the tile.  The walk-in shower will use the tile for the walls and floor with onyx decorative effects on the wall, bench, and niches.  And the transitions from the vanity area into the open shower and the vanity area into the master laundry will be delineated on the threshold with the small onyx pieces.

Since the downstairs bathrooms will all be neutral, we selected a little more color for the upstairs bathroom.

Upstairs Bathroom Selections
The tile for the floor simulates a grass cloth, the walls around the tub/shower are covered in an off white beveled subway tile with an accent of a really fun deep red, grey, taupe mixture and the counter top is the shiny black granite used in the kitchen perimeter.  It will be a striking punch of color in the upstairs area.

While we were selecting bathroom decor, a Porto potty and a dumpster were being delivered to the build site.  Our builder had been very careful to mark where the potty should be placed.

And here is where the potty was placed.......look familiar.....it is in the corner of our "parking lot."

Misplaced Potty
No harm done and all will be fixed, but it gives new meaning to the phrase "missing the mark."

So, it was a great couple of days in the building process and we expect to have more fun later in the week.

  2. Bruce could use that spot whether the porta-potty is there or not, right?
