Day 24- The Pink Panther

The job site was jumpin' today with many different crews finishing up work before the big day tomorrow.  We had plumbers, electricians, laborers, engineers, inspectors, and the project manager.

Crew at Work

Casey, our project manager, came early and we had a meeting in our office under the trees.  We are learning so much about the construction process and Casey is very patient in explaining the different steps to us.

I think I have previously mentioned we hired an independent inspector to check on the project from time to time.   Here's the logo of the inspection company.

Isn't that a really clever name for an inspection company!!  Our inspector, Ron, came out and he thoroughly went over the work to date with Bruce, Casey and me.  He was very pleased with the work and gave the "go ahead" from his perspective.

After our independent inspection was completed, an engineer inspector from G. E. Reeves arrived to do a different inspection to certify the foundation ready for concrete.  G. E. Reeves is the company responsible for the engineering of the foundation.  This is a very critical phase of the construction process.  Mistakes in framing or even in plumbing can be fixed relatively easy.  A bad foundation is extremely difficult and expensive to correct.  This inspector was very focused and intense.....I didn't get a picture of him in action!!!!

We specified insulation for all pipes in the house.  Having dealt with frozen pipes in the past, this step was a no-brainer for us.

The orange markings on the walls were made by the engineering inspector.   The marks are all over the place.

More Orange Marks!!

It was a really busy day at the site and tomorrow will be even busier.  Concrete trucks will start arriving at 7:00 to pour the slab.  The pour and other concrete work will take many, many hours.  I can't wait to see the activity.

Furry Friend of the Day

The furry friend of the day is one of the 100 or so free range Longhorn cattle that live at Bridlewood.  The cattle have an idyllic life just roaming around and grazing across the properties.  The speed on the Bridlewood roads is 30 MPH, but sometimes it is zero if one of these guys decides to stand in the road. It is really fun when there are new calves frolicking around the property.
