Day 31 - Lumbering Along

It's been a few days since the foundation was poured at the 44 Ranch.  Our weather luck continued with a nice light rain over the weekend.

Sunday, March 10
This kind of wet weather is perfect for helping the concrete cure.  And just as importantly, we REALLY need rain in the Hill Country.

On Monday, a crew wrecked out the foundation forms and we got our first unobstructed view of the foundations.

In addition to taking out the foundation forms, the crew removed several remaining trees that were too close to the foundation.  We are sorry to lose the trees, but they had to go to prevent future foundation problems.

On Tuesday, the engineering group returned with their laser equipment to measure the level of the foundations.  As we expected, the levels were within spec.  Unfortunately, we missed getting any pictures of the crew performing this work.

Our neighbor spies alerted us to the arrival of framing materials and we went out to check the supplies.  It is really exciting to see the wood that will be used to construct our home!!!!!

Bruce took advantage of the beautiful day to do a little tree trimming of his own.  He loves being outside and playing with his power tools.

We are thrilled with the progress made in a month and look forward to watching the framing process.

Furry Friend of the Day
Our furry friend of the day is the coolest cat ever - Bailey B.  Bailey currently lives with his Mom and Dad in the same apartment complex as Bruce and me.  He will be moving to Bridlewood later this year when his new house is finished across the street from our house.  Bailey is friendly, affectionate, smart, and loves to visit with friends.  We are so glad we will continue to be neighbors when we move.
